The Community Planning Alliance (CPA) is holding a national Day of Action on Saturday 18th April 2026, to highlight the threat to parks, nature and the countryside (which includes farmland) across the country from development. Campaign groups from Birchington and the Westgate & Garlinge are using the day to highlight the contribution our farms make to our domestic food security and the constant threat of destruction it faces through overdevelopment.

Posters for the Scarecrow Competition at Birchington's Dog Acre, and the activity in Westgate, on 18th April are attached.

For full details visit the CPA website https://communityplanningalliance.org/, further inspiration can be found at https://communityplanningalliance.org/events-calendar/ and also follow the links to:

  1. Sign up and put an Action pin on the Map to highlight your activity
  2. Take a picture of your activity and share it on social media
  3. Send the picture to 10 Downing Street to show the politicians how much we care about Thanet

Our aim is to get as many Pins in the Map across Thanet as we can, flood social media with pictures of our lovely Isle and show the Government how many local people care about food security and nature in Thanet!
